A woman who thought her boyfriend was cheating to set her house on fire has been arrested

A woman has been arrested after setting fire to her boyfriend’s house in a jealous rage.

Senaida Marie Soto became livid after another woman answered her partner’s phone and became convinced he was cheating on her.

The furious 23-year-old allegedly broke into his home in Texas, US, earlier this week and set fire to a sofa in the living room in an explosive act of revenge.

The house was quickly engulfed in flames, and the woman then video-called her boyfriend to show what she had done, according to an affidavit cited by KSAT.

The woman who answered Senaida’s boyfriend’s phone turned out to be her relative, and not someone she was cheating on.

“Soto became upset that another woman answered her boyfriend’s phone,” the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office stated.

“She went to her boyfriend’s house, and that’s when she set fire to the couch in the living room.

“While the house was on fire, a video was recorded and shown that he ignited the couch that was spread out, causing the house to catch fire, as well as causing more than $50,000 worth of damage ($75,000 ).

“Soto also texted the boyfriend while the house was on fire and said, ‘I hope your house is okay.’

“The Office of the Fire Marshal assisted BCSO with the fire investigation and BCSO issued two warrants for the arrest of Senaida Soto.

“Soto was arrested … for Burglary – Force, 2nd Degree Felony and Arson, 1st Degree Felony.”

The fire was reported to have caused more than A$75,000 in damage.

People in the comments were shocked by the woman’s actions.

“If someone makes you feel this insecure, or if someone is that psychotic (because, let’s face it, I’m sure there were other signs she was off), then you need to break up and find someone else,” wrote one.

“Wow, pretty extreme reaction, I hope the boyfriend stays away from her!” said another.

“Real life pettiness,” one Facebook user wrote.

“Jealousy and insecurity are written all over it.”

Earlier this year, a woman went viral after taking it “too far away” when she found out her boyfriend had cheated on her.

The TikTok user posted a clip of her walking to the edge of a bridge while looking at the river flowing below.

The video was titled ‘she cheated so I threw her mother’s ashes into the river’ and showed the woman lifting a white urn with an intricate navy design and throwing the ashes it contained into the water.

He then let go of the urn and it disappeared into the river, before wiping his hands and walking away.
