Friends mourn death of South Milwaukee woman linked to Racine dating app suspect

MILWAUKEE – Dozens of customers at Scotty’s Historic Bar and Pizza are choosing to remember their friend Raina, commonly known as Rain, as a vibrant woman who loved to sing and brought smiles to anyone she had the chance to meet- the.

“She was fun to be around, fun to sing duets with, and she had a beautiful voice,” Richard Spear said.

“She had an angelic power about her. Maybe she was just ours to borrow for a while,” Daniel Walsh said.

“She was funny. She talked to everybody and anybody. She was always happy and outgoing,” recalled waitress Carmen Rogers.

And that’s how they plan to always remember the 55-year-old woman after her death in the early hours of Tuesday morning. She was hospitalized last Thursday after being knocked unconscious in Powers on the 10th. It happened moments after she and a man, who police believe is 52-year-old Timothy Olson, ordered drinks at the bar.

“It’s sad in this world that there are crazy people who do bad things to people,” Spear said.

According to the Racine Police Department, Olson, who quickly left the mother of two inside the bar, is connected to a series of crimes against women, including in Racine, where he drugged women and stole their money.

“Like why? That was something I thought about. Like what makes you sick to do that to someone,” Rogers asked.

Racine police have issued multiple alerts for Olson, but have yet to find him. South Milwaukee police say they are awaiting autopsy results from the medical examiner’s office to officially determine Rain’s cause of death.

Until then, friends are asking Olson to turn himself in.

Racine police say Olson currently has a warrant for his arrest for five counts of theft in Mount Pleasant, and they are currently looking to speak with Olson about a similar incident in another jurisdiction. They say it has ties to southeastern Wisconsin and northern Illinois.

The employees of Scotty’s Historic Bar and Pizza will host a fundraiser in Rain’s honor on Tuesday, December 13th at 7:00 p.m. All funds raised from the event will go directly to Rain’s family.
