Single parents will spend time getting to know each other in a Love Island-style villa.

A broadcast call reading: “ITV1 are looking for vibrant single dads from across the UK who are looking for love, for a brand new dating show!

“This is the only dating show where single parents can look for love, spending time in a luxury retreat, where all parents have been nominated by their grown children.”

Applications close on 31 March 2023 and more details about the show will be announced.

News of the new show comes after Davina McCall pitched her idea to ITV for a Love Island-style show for slightly older people.

He told Stephen Bartlett’s The Diary of a CEO podcast: “I could fill a villa on Love Island with middle-aged people with the best back stories you’ve ever heard in your life.

“They’ve lived a life — they’re widows, they’re people who’ve been through horrible divorces. They’re people who’ve broken up with someone and decided they want to try dating someone of the same sex as them. They’re like interesting people. I would watch this program”.

It remains to be seen if Davina will participate in the new show.

For now, series regular Love Island airs on ITV2 and ITVX every night.

New presenter Maya Jama hosts the first of two series this year, set in a sunny South African villa.

As always, the show follows a cast of bachelors hoping to find their perfect match.

Firepit reunions will see plenty of drama as the truth behind relationships is revealed, leading to unexpected exits, dramatic reunions and shock splits.

In the end, a couple is crowned the winner of Love Island 2023.
