Man robbed, assaulted in Menlo Park after meeting woman on dating app – East Bay Times


MENLO PARK – A man was the victim of an armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon Friday evening, Menlo Park police said.

Officers received reports of the attack in the 3600 block of Haven Avenue around 5:55 p.m., according to a news release. When police arrived, they found a 35-year-old man suffering from injuries after the attackers pistol-whipped, punched and kicked him.

Police learned the man had been attacked while with a woman he met on a dating app. He and the woman were sitting in their parked car when two men approached, pulled him out of the car and attacked him. The two men then took cash from her and left with the woman, who willingly went with them, police said.

Police said they were unable to find any of the attackers after searching the area. According to the press release, the three suspects were described as being in their 20s.

The man who was attacked received medical attention from police before being taken to a hospital for treatment, police said.
