Ryanair has spotted a passenger on Twitter who complained about the limited legroom on their flight.
Passenger Steve Merry posted a photo of his knees pressed against the seat, with the caption: “I’m only 5ft 7in @Ryanair.”
The low-cost carrier retweeted Mr Merry’s post and cheekily asked: “So are you going to update your Tinder profile?”
The budget airline’s online clapback has garnered around 60,000 likes since it was shared on March 15, with people quick to comment under the sarcastic response.
To applause, Mr Merry replied: “I’m all about personality.”
“We believe you, Steve,” Ryanair joked back.
In a response to the apparent Ryanair troll, one user asked: “How is this a real company.”
“Because planes,” was the response from Ryanair’s social media account.
However, others questioned Mr. Merry.
“I flew to Tenerife with you the other week and had plenty of room and I’m 6ft 1in,” said one user, while another added: “I’m 5ft 10in and fit yours perfectly seats”.
“I’m 6ft 3in dude,” said a third. “It’s okay. Sit properly and don’t slouch. You’ll ruin your back if you don’t.
In a Tinder themed reply, one user noted: “Even though it doesn’t have room to swipe left.”
Others appreciated Ryanair’s sense of humour, with one person writing: “Great joke”.
“I’m just here to see the Ryanair social media team having a good time!” added another.
Ryanair is known for its sarcasm on social media and has a history of online trolling.
Recent examples include the airline trotting out a passenger for complaining about check-in rules in February, saying at the time: “It’s hard to be an adult.”
Last year, the budget airline mocked a passenger for complaining about a window seat. The carrier also found Dublin Airport for its long security queues in December.
