SAGINAW, MI – A man was arrested after a woman came forward and told authorities she had been raped by the man at gunpoint, Saginaw police said.
The suspect, a 33-year-old Saginaw man, is currently being held in the Saginaw County Jail on a pending first-degree criminal sexual conduct charge.
Police initially responded to a local hospital on Saturday, March 18, and made contact with a 22-year-old Saginaw woman who told police she had been the victim of a forced rape with a gun.
Officers discovered the incident occurred at the suspect’s residence in the 1100 block of Morris Street on Saginaw’s Southeast Side.
The victim told police she matched with the 33-year-old Saginaw man on the dating app Tinder and met him at his residence. The victim said the encounter turned violent and she was raped while the man held a gun to her head.
Police said they went to the man’s home, but he refused to answer the door. A search warrant was subsequently obtained and executed. Two other people and a small child left the house when ordered by the police.
The suspect refused to leave the home, however, officers located him hiding in the attic, with a gun that was found during the search.
