‘Think clearly’: Warburton offers career advice to Michael Beale Rangers

MARK WARBURTON has urged Michael Beale to think “very clearly” if he is offered the chance to become the next Rangers manager.

The former Ibrox boss warned the QPR manager that chances to join a club like Rangers don’t come around often.

But Warburton admitted Beale would have a “difficult decision” on his hands if offered the position with the chance to manage hard-to-overlook Rangers.

“I think Michael is very aware of the size of the Rangers football club,” Warburton said when discussing Rangers’ managerial search on Sky Sports.

“It’s a global institution recognized around the world for the history of the club. It’s a fantastic opportunity and Michael will know that.

“He will recognize the club and will have very good relationships within the club established when he worked with Steven.

“Should it come, it will be a fantastic opportunity and very hard to turn down.

“I think that Wolves offered him a job and he chose to stay at QPR says a lot about his thought process and what he wants to do with his career, so he made that decision for his career, so I’m sure it’s not done.deal by any means yet.

🗣️ “If it comes, it will be a fantastic opportunity and certainly very difficult to refuse.”

“The question was about the opportunity, and managing a club the size of Rangers is always a magnificent opportunity.

“Should he move on, he’s going to have a very difficult decision to make, that’s for sure.

“I think if he goes on, I think he will be backed to go and be successful in what is a unique league in terms of the relationship with the Celtic Old Firm and the passion of the fans.

“I think he’ll have to weigh it up. He’s in a good place with QPR. He’s had a good start to the season, they’re out of the play-offs but those kinds of opportunities don’t come around every week.”

Warburton spent two years in charge at Ibrox and offered Beale advice to clear his mind and carefully consider any offer for the Rangers job.

The Londoner warned that any job offer worth considering comes with significant risk, but cited Beale’s connections and understanding of Rangers culture as he offered his views on the QPR manager’s position.

He added: “It’s a tough decision in terms of where he is now, he’s done well. But when you have that I think you have to put all your cards on the table and think very clearly.

“For me, he has tasted success, he knows what’s there, he knows what can happen there.

“Yes, any job of this stature carries risks, any good job will always challenge you and there will always be an element of danger.

“But I think he’s very aware of that, he’s got a good understanding of what’s going to be expected of him and his team and his staff.

“If you make the offer to QPR, then you have a very difficult decision, but always a good decision to make.”
