Tinder Gold: The paid version of the dating app is a huge hit – Moyens I/O

Match, the company that owns Tinder, announced that it increased its turnover by 19% compared to last year, as part of the announcement of its financial results for the third quarter of 2017. In total, the firm will earn $343 million. That revenue is also tied to the company’s other dating apps OkCupid and PlentyofFish, but mostly comes from Tinder Gold, the paid version of the app. Tinder, soon to be made into a movie, attracted an additional 476,000 paid users this quarter.

Tinder wants to blur the line between virtual and real dating

Following the huge success of popular dating app Tinder, Match plans to continue improving the platform with new features aimed at making it less boring while blurring the line between virtual and real encounters. In fact, CEO Greg Blatt admits that the Tinder experience right now is all about scrolling through profiles. According to him, this concept is simple and effective, but a little too limited.

Thanks to a future update, when a match occurs, the user will be able to explore in more detail the personality of their new conquest, and especially their activities. Tinder’s new features will be based primarily on artificial intelligence and geolocation, and will “integrate both the virtual world and the real world.” The company has not provided further details at this time. Match also aims to provide a personalized experience for each user, thanks to artificial intelligence. These new features will be rolled out in early 2018 through a major update.
