Top tips to ‘smooth wrinkles’ and ‘make lips look more youthful’ |

Sarah Amelia Fogg, permanent celebrity makeup artist and founder of Sarah’s eyebrows, has shared her best tips on how to look younger, using simple and affordable products and methods. Sarah’s clients include celebrities including Olivia Attwood, Denise Welch and English Lioness Chloe Kelly.

“Firstly, I think it’s important that we embrace ageing,” Sarah told “Lines and wrinkles aren’t necessarily something to hide, but rather an indication of aging gracefully.

“However, it’s perfectly understandable that some of us prefer to cover them up and I find that the best way is determined by how we prepare our skin before applying makeup.”

One of Sarah’s best anti-aging tips was to “make sure your skin is exfoliated and hydrated.”

“I recommend using a silicone primer as a base that can help smooth wrinkles, basically filling in the wrinkles to allow your makeup to dry more smoothly,” she said.

“I also recommend applying with fingers or a brush rather than a sponge for the best coverage.

“Let the primer sit for a few minutes before you start applying any makeup. You may also find that this means you can apply less foundation, giving you a more natural ‘no makeup’ look.”

Sarah went on to reveal the most common makeup mistakes women make every now and then that can make them look older instead of younger.

“Brows are the most common area I see where people make mistakes that age them,” she said.

“Completely neglecting your brows can make you look older, especially if you have sparse brows.

“Similarly, going too heavy on the product can also age you. If you like the defined look, avoid adding any color to the end of your brow, as extending the tail too much can age you significantly.

“In general, you want to avoid adding too much product, so I recommend starting at the tail and then working your way inward.

“Doing this can help you work with the natural shape of your brows, keep them fluffy and avoid applying too much product.”

Applying too much product in general is also a common mistake that can age your face, whether it’s with brow products, eyeliner or foundation.

“Generally, less is more,” Sarah emphasized. “One of the best ways to make yourself look younger is by using blush to add a natural youthful glow.

“To avoid adding too much and looking like you’ve just had a run, I recommend using a brush to lightly dust the blush on your cheekbones.”

There are also some makeup mistakes that can have a negative impact on your skin in the long run, according to Sarah.

“The biggest make-up mistakes are ones we’re all aware of and yet are all guilty of making at times, which include not removing all your make-up properly and putting any make-up product on dry skin,” explained Sarah.

“I think another big makeup mistake is neglecting your lips or just applying lip balm or color in one night.

“Moisturization is very underrated when it comes to your lips, but it’s so important to apply a moisturizing lip balm every day. This can also help with blood flow and help your lips look younger.

“If you want something a little lower maintenance, semi-permanent lip blush is a very popular form of semi-permanent makeup that I offer to achieve fuller, defined, pigment-enhanced youthful-looking lips,” Sarah. added

“It can last two to three years with top-ups; results will vary depending on how well you take care of your lips, especially while they’re healing.”
